Yes, it is a lovely Digital Versatile Disk of The Blair Witch Project. Another film I should have seen a long time ago, but never got round to. Anyway, was in Borders for £5.99 so bought it... now I just have to watch it! Cat x

Ok, have actually now watched the film I give it... **** (woohoo) Very short review (seen as I am not very good at them!) Basically if you haven't seen it, it's the story of threee young filmmakers who decide to make a documentary about the legend of the "Blair Witch". This involves going into a forest to find various things such as graves and a spooky house. So, they park thier car in the middle of nowhere and set off. Every night they hear creepy noises and there is lots of swearing, screaming and shouting by the three young people. Then they get lost and one of them decides to kick the map into the river. Then one of them goes missing and there is a slightly grusome bit involving his "tougue" turning up (although I had to read that on IMDB to figure out what it was). So basically, then they find this spooky house and then the end of the film happens (which I won't give away... partly because its cool and partly because I didn't understand it when I saw it... no surprise there.) So, as for an actual review about it - I loved it. I like scary films but I don't usually find one I actually get round to watching. I admit, I thought the whole thing was real until I watched the special features on the DVD and even then I still was mixed and didn't really know whether it was fake or real, whether the people in it were actors or the read filmmakers... argh it is a very confusing movie in that sense. Although this makes you THINK about it - which is ALWAYS a good thing! The whole thing is handheld, in fact the three principal actors do pretty much all the filming of the whole movie. This makes it seem more real, more scary but if you do suffer from motion sickness it might not be the movie for you ;D Apparently, most of the dialogue was ad-lib, the reactions un-rehearsed and the actors only given a brief overview of what was happening. Som people may think this makes the movie crap but I think the opposite in that it gives it a different edge to other "scary" films - as if the actors are in the same boat as the viewer and they don't know what's coming up or if something is going to jump out of the bushes at you! Ok, I think I've typed enough - all I have to say is it cost $20,000 to make and it grossed like $200million at the box office.... so watch it! Cat x

Oh and I should add, I do now understand the whole story thanks to IMDB, the special features and a couple of friends who explained it to me. YAY.

Well I must say, I am pleased.
When the movie came out there was so much hype and people were divided right down the middle.
I personally loved it. SO scary. At the time speaking to loads of people of all walks of life there was a definite difference from those that liked it and those that didn't. We (friends and I) found that those that loved it and I might add, understood the ending because it is here that the true power of the film and scariness lies, were of a more, how do I say, widely read, and more open to different things. After further talking to the people that liked it, they liked a wider range of films, and were more cerebral when commenting on them. (that's as nice as I can go)
Those that said, "nah, it was shit." in a low Bristol accent, said that after further prodding by me because they didn't understand the ending. Simple as that. It wasn't slick, elegantly scored, or shot on 35mm but as it looked amateur, and non Hollywood, they switched off mentally. Totally not realizing it is there that the true power of the film lies.
It also is a film that DEMANDS you listen, not asking yer mate for another stella as you continue to talk through it. That tiny little line about 20 minutes in that holds the key to the ending. Now, in mainstream Hollywood "scary" film that the stella boys like to watch with lots of T&A, that line would have been flashed back to seconds before to MAKE sure you understand.
Credit to you boys for making such an original and horrifying film

Not a guest but my computer sucks so for now.....my identity shall remain shrouded in mystery..... Blair Witch was ruined for me in fairness cos I was round a mates wen I was 14 and there was like 6 of us - none of whom paid attention unless someone was running/screaming - probably good actually because now I can revisit essentially knowing nothing of what happens! Lol - so this isn't a review as I can't say I've seen it yet - Stay tuned! In fairness, I was one of those ppl Paul runnin round sayin it was crap but as I didn't really watch it.... lol, what did I know - at that age if shit didn't blow the fuck up and fast they'd lost me - some say that's never left me but I don't think that's remotely fair...... Am with you on IT Emily!!! Scared the bejeesus out of me - I never liked clowns tho - accordin to my parents there was a sweet machine in the style of clown in my local town and I always got distressed by it so.... bit of trivia there....embarrasing.... Luckily you don't know who I am! Ha! Jokes on you..... Why are you all hanging around in a movie forum neway?! Bunch of gays.... www.cba-productions.co.uk - Sorry, is that in your way?

AHAHA. I did understand the ending and I don't have a low Bristol accent so we're alright. LOL. I thought it was a fab film Oh, and I should really understand more when I first watch a film.. although I was so wrapped up in trying to understand whether it was real or not I think that's why I got a bit confused. I am wider read tho.... if you count that as A-Level English Lit. LOL. Cat xx

Hang on, I didn't mean you Cat. Reading back through my post I can see why you might have thought that...Sorry for the mis-understanding..
Good to see Si, I mean,... whoever the guest was, being honest about his past opinions. Age....it's funny how you revisit a film 10 years later and it means so much more. The film hasn't changed one bit.....but you obviously have. I like it when that happens.
